GOD’S ALCHEMY.<\/p>\n
"The Lord thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the Lord thy God loved thee" (Deu_23:5).<\/p>\n
1. This verse is exceedingly comforting to us.<\/p>\n
2. It may be that we have things in our lives that might be counted a curse.<\/p>\n
a. In our families, b. Businesses, c. Bodies.<\/p>\n
3. And we cry to God day and night to take them away, and He does not.<\/p>\n
4. But He will do something better-transform them into blessings.<\/p>\n
5. He is always doing that, i.e., curse of labour: "Come hither, ye that press your beds of down and sleep not; see him sweating o’er his bread before he eats it. ‘Tis the primal curse. But softened into mercy; made the pledge of cheerful days, and nights without a groan" (Cowper).<\/p>\n
6. Look at Paul’s thorn! See how God, by grace, made it a blessing to him!<\/p>\n
7. Old alchemists could not do this. Why He does this: Love.<\/p>\n
