Very many years ago a man was condemned to be hanged. While on the scaffold he asked a drink of water. His request was granted, but his hand shook so much that he could not drink it. "Take time," said the king, who sat by to see the end of the law, "you will not be hanged till you drink it." In a moment the culprit dashed the cup from him, saying, "Well, I’ll never drink it, so I can never be hanged." He took the king at his word, and his life was saved.<\/p>\n
