The Long Journey Begun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Long Journey Begun<\/p>\n<p>&quot;And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man&quot; (Gen_24:61).<\/p>\n<p>When the decision was made there was a delay suggested by the brother and the mother of Rebekah. They said: &quot;Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at least ten; after that she shall go.&quot; Immediately Eliezer answered them, &quot;Hinder me not, seeing the Lord hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>When a soul has decided for Christ, there should be no delay in making immediate journey in the new way. The Lord said, &quot;If any one will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.<\/p>\n<p>When the Lord says, &quot;Follow thou Me,&quot; it is not for us to respond: &quot;Suffer me first to go and bury my father,&quot; or, &quot;Let me first go and bid them farewell, which are at my home,&quot; for &quot;no man putting his hand to the plow and looking back is fit for the Kingdom of God.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Rebekah was ready, and immediately she set out on her long desert journey. We too are crossing the sands, we are journeying over the deserts of separation.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Here in this body pent,<\/p>\n<p>Absent from Him we roam,<\/p>\n<p>Yet daily pitch our moving tent,<\/p>\n<p>A day&#8217;s march nearer home.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Let us start toward the Heavenly city today.
