At the Bethesda Pool<\/p>\n
Every parable and every miracle seems full of deepest meaning for those who care to search the depths.<\/p>\n
We are giving a lesson to this man, healed at the Bethesda Pool, because it teaches us so many things concerning the "way of life."<\/p>\n
The man whom Christ healed was a man thirty-eight years sick. Christ is able to save the vilest of the vile–the one who has gone the deepest, and who is the farthest on in sin.<\/p>\n
In 2Ki_25:27, we read how, "In the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin, king of Judah, Evil-merodach king of Babylon, did lift up the head of Jehoiachin out of prison."<\/p>\n
Here is a man thirty-seven years in prison, released; in our lesson there is a man thirty-eight years sick, who was healed. Oh, the wonders of saving grace!<\/p>\n
"It is just like Him, to take our sins away,<\/p>\n
It is just like Him, to keep us day by day,<\/p>\n
It is just like Jesus, all along the way,<\/p>\n
It is just like His great love."<\/p>\n
