Israel’s Distress-Wanderers<\/p>\n
"In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and He heard me" Psa_120:1).<\/p>\n
The Psalm before us presents Israel, a wanderer among the nations. The 5th verse reads: "Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!" This expression is significant of the cruelties placed upon God’s chosen people as they wandered hither and thither mid the ungodly nations; as they dwelt with those who hated peace; as they came in contact with men who practiced war.<\/p>\n
For twenty-three hundred years, the distress of this Psalm has been upon the children of Israel; without a home; without a king, and for the greater part without a temple, they have been driven hither and thither among the nations; sifted, as grain is sifted through a sieve.<\/p>\n
In all of their wanderings sharp arrows have been used against them. They have felt the slander of the false and deceitful tongue; they have known the anguish that acrues from lying lips. Let us not forget to pray that God will deliver His people.<\/p>\n
