There will be left behind, many, many nominal, formal, church-members. They had a religion, but they had not the Christ; they had a form of Godliness, but they knew nothing of the power thereof; they bore the name of Christ upon their lips, but they never held Him in their hearts; they came before Him as the people cometh, and He was unto them as one who had a lovely voice, or, as one who played well upon an instrument, but they never knew Him in His saving grace.

Many church-members, and we fear many preachers and church officers, will be left behind. They were acquainted with churchianity but not with Christianity, they knew something of the "Man of Galilee," but they knew nothing of the Christ of Calvary, nor the Christ of God’s right hand.

2. All of the world will be left behind: the world who knew Him not; the Jews who received Him not; the great, mad, rushing, Christ-rejecting world–all of the world will be left behind.

The world has no part in Christ, nor has Christ any part in the world. When He comes, those who received Him not, will not be received of Him.

3. Unbelieving Israel will be left behind. The people who crucified their Lord; the people who cried, "His blood be upon us and upon our children;" the people who scorned Him, who would none of His council, and who refused all His reproof–Israel will be left behind.

All day long did our Lord stand with outstretched hand, calling to Israel, but they would not come: and Israel will pass into the hour of Jacob’s Trouble, into the Indignation the great Tribulation–Israel will be left behind.

All day long did He cry "How oft would I have gathered you together," but He was calling a disobedient and a gainsaying people–Israel would not hear, and Israel will not escape the hour of trial that is coming on the earth.

Israel will be left behind, that through the waters of her greatest "Mara" (bitterness), she may be prepared to receive the Lord Jesus when He comes to the Mount of Olives, but at the Rapture, Israel will be left behind.

All of those,–the Christ-rejecters,

Have no blessed Hope to cheer,

They have certain dark forebodings,

They are filled with certain fear:

For the coming Lord of Glory

Brings but judgments and dismay,

Unto those who know not Jesus,

Who refuse to own His sway.

Autor: R.E.
