Postmillennialism Robs Christ of His Personal Reign<\/p>\n
"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace" (Isa_9:6)<\/p>\n
The "post" teaches that the Lord is never to reign on the earth in person at all. They hold that Christ's reign is spiritual; that He is now seated upon His throne in the Heavens, at the Father's right hand. To them the Second Coming is the close of earth dispensations–the end of the world.<\/p>\n
The "pre" anticipates the personal reign of Christ on this earth. He believes Christ is now seated on His Father's throne. His reign is to be not a spiritual, but a literal reign on David's throne.<\/p>\n
The "post" should believe such Scriptures as these:–"And the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David" (Luk_1:32).<\/p>\n
"To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne" (Rev_3:21).<\/p>\n
"Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom to order it, and to establish it." "The zeal of the Lord of Hosts shall perform this" (Isa_9:7).<\/p>\n
The Scriptures above are uncapable of being spiritualized. The throne of Christ is an earthly, historical throne, simply because it is the throne of David.<\/p>\n
Why should the "post" with one sweep of his hand seek to rob Christ of the exultant joy of reigning in the midst of His people?<\/p>\n
The postmillennialist with all sorts of twisting and turning, with astute perversion of the Scriptures, would say to Jesus: "You must remain on Your Father's throne; for we, in our learning have decided that David's throne, of which You are the promised heir, must not be taken literally."<\/p>\n
What joy thrilled Jesus once, as, looking beyond Israel's sufferings, He saw her glory. It was then He said: "Jerusalem shall be trodden down until"–until they shall say: "Blessed is He Who cometh in the name of the Lord."<\/p>\n
To-day, Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father, received thus into the Heavens, expecting, "until the times of the restitution of all things."<\/p>\n
God hath said:<\/p>\n
"When He again bringeth the firstborn into the world (inhabitable earth) * * let all the angels of God worship Him;" and again when speaking of the throne of the Son, God saith, "Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever; and the scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Thy Kingdom."<\/p>\n
We insist, the blessed Son of God anticipates His throne, and no man can hinder His personal, corporeal, literal coming and reign.<\/p>\n
