An Interrupted Service (Mar_2:3-4).<\/p>\n
Studying the Paralytic (Mar_2:3).<\/p>\n
The Responsive Christ (Mar_2:5).<\/p>\n
The Critical Scribes (Mar_2:6-7).<\/p>\n
Christ to His Critics (Mar_2:8-11).<\/p>\n
The Paralytic Healed (Mar_2:12).<\/p>\n
The miracles and parables of Christ form a conspicuous part of all the four Gospels.<\/p>\n
The miracles sum up for us "Christ and His work." The parables sum up for us "Christ and His Word."<\/p>\n
There is a close relation between these inasmuch as the work and the Word of Christ are one.<\/p>\n
The miracle of the paralytic and his healing sets forth one of the chief claims of the Words of Christ: His "power on earth to forgive sins."<\/p>\n
The miracle establishes two plainly stated facts:<\/p>\n
1. Christ's Deity and power to forgive is assured by His miracles.<\/p>\n
2. With Christ the forgiveness of sins is as easy as the healing of the sick.<\/p>\n
A third truth may be outlined:<\/p>\n
3. Sin and sickness have a very vital connection, and He Who is Lord in one realm, is Lord in the other.<\/p>\n
The paralytic magnifies Christ, in that one so helpless and so dependent is made the recipient of grace. In all of this Christ is graciously magnified.<\/p>\n
The service of the four men in connection with this healing should be given emphasis. God calls saints into a vital co-partnership in real soul-saving service.<\/p>\n
