The Three Days' Journey (Gen_22:3-4).<\/p>\n
Where Is the Lamb? (Gen_22:7).<\/p>\n
Isaac Bound (Gen_22:9).<\/p>\n
In the Stead of His Son (Gen_22:13).<\/p>\n
Jehovah-jireh (Gen_22:14).<\/p>\n
Because Thou Hast Done This Thing (Gen_22:16-17).<\/p>\n
Abraham offering up Isaac has always stood with the orthodox as a striking and beautiful type of God offering up His Son.<\/p>\n
To be sure the critic would rob us of this meaningful message, and tell us that Abraham, of his own volition, was only following out the heathen custom of his day–a most hideous and barbaric rite,–the sacrifice of his son to appease the wrath of an avengeful God.<\/p>\n
In spite of the critic we come believing; and we sit at the feet of our Lord to-day and ask Him to teach us the deeper meanings of this trying test with which God, Himself, did test Abraham.<\/p>\n
