The Escape to Land<\/p>\n
"And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stack fast, and remained nnmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves" (Act_27:41).<\/p>\n
1. There is nothing in the conclusion of this wonderful story of the storm which even suggests that the storm abated. This much, however, is sure; that for Paul's sake, the Lord heard and answered prayer; and all aboard the ship reached the land in spite of the storm.<\/p>\n
The storms now are raging, but we need have no fear–the Lord will carry us through.<\/p>\n
2. The ship went to pieces. Everything that is man-made or humanly conceived, will fail us 'mid the storm. Everything of the flesh will go to pieces; but, thank God, when that which man has built fails us, and we throw ourselves upon God, He will bring us to the shore.<\/p>\n
3. It says that "when the day had come." It is always day to us when the Lord speaks peace to our souls. With our feet planted upon Him, the storm may rage; but we will feel ourselves secure.<\/p>\n
Light in the darkness, sailor, day is at hand!<\/p>\n
See o'er the foaming billows fair Haven's land,<\/p>\n
Drear was the voyage, sailor, now almost o'er,<\/p>\n
Safe within the life-boat, sailor, pull for the shore.<\/p>\n
Bright gleams the morning, sailor, up lift the eye;<\/p>\n
Clouds and darkness disappearing, glory is nigh!<\/p>\n
Safe in the life-boat, sailor, sing evermore:<\/p>\n
"Glory, glory, hallelujah!" pull for the shore.<\/p>\n
Thank God–"a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest" (Isa_32:2).<\/p>\n
