Job&apos;s Despair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Job&apos;s Despair<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I cry unto Thee, and Thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and Thou regardest me not&quot; (Job_30:20).<\/p>\n<p>There came, in the days of Job&apos;s darkness, a despair that almost overwhelmed him. He cried; &quot;Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: * * my soul is poured out upon me: * * my bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest. * * I am become like dust and ashes.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Job, in his anguish, felt that God was against him. He said, &quot;Thou opposest Thyself against me. Thou liftest me up to the wind; * * and dissolvest my substance. * * When I waited for the light, there came darkness. My bowels boiled, and rested not.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The Lord Jesus Christ, as He passed on to His Cross, cried out unto the Father in words quite similar to Job&apos;s.<\/p>\n<p>This is the language of the Cross: &quot;My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me? Why art Thou so far from helping Me, and from the words of My roaring?&quot;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;O My God, I cry in the daytime, but Thou hearest not; * * I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people&quot; (Selections from Psalms 22).<\/p>\n<p>The Lord Jesus Christ, in the anguish of His soul felt like one overcome with the waters. He said: &quot;I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow Me. I am weary of My crying: My throat is dried: Mine eyes fail while I wait for My God&quot; (Quotations from Psalms 69).<\/p>\n<p>Autor: R.E.
