Three Distinct Persons Are Seen in the Baptism of Christ<\/p>\n
"It came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, * * the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from Heaven, which said, Thou art My beloved Son; in Thee I am well pleased" (Luk_3:21-22).<\/p>\n
In the Scripture above we have first of all the Father speaking,–"A voice came from Heaven."<\/p>\n
Next we have the Son spoken to,–The voice said, "Thou art My beloved Son."<\/p>\n
Finally we have the Spirit descending,–"The Holy Ghost descended in bodily shape."<\/p>\n
Beyond doubt there are three personalities before us. The One Who spake is not the same as the One spoken to; the One Who received the Holy Spirit descending upon Him is not the same as the Holy Spirit Who descended.<\/p>\n
The passage declares that there were three persons at the baptism of Christ; the Father was there, the Son was there, the Spirit was there; these three are One, but they are just as truly three.<\/p>\n
