"And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of Hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory" (Isa_6:3).<\/p>\n
In considering the Scriptural position of the Blood of Christ in the atonement for sin, it is necessary to lay some sure foundations concerning the nature of God and of sin.<\/p>\n
In this consideration, even the radicals, for the most part, concur in each statement we shall make.<\/p>\n
1. God is: "In the beginning God." This is the statement of Genesis 1. "He that cometh to God must believe that He is." This is the statement of Hebrews 11.<\/p>\n
Few men are atheists. Some, however, are pantheistic–they believe in an immaterial God, pervading nature–a God that is a mere force. However, most men, saints and sinners, concede that there is a personal God.<\/p>\n
2. God is inherently holy. "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of Hosts," is the angelic acclaim, as recorded in Isaiah 6. The fact of God's inherent holiness, justice, and love, does not need to be argued. All who believe in the God of the Bible, believe in His all-glorious attributes.<\/p>\n
3. God is communicatively righteous. "The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth," is the voice of Exodus 34.<\/p>\n
God's holiness refers particularly to an attribute which lies within Himself; His righteousness refers particularly to His acts towards others. God's righteousness assures every man, good or bad, of perfect justice. God keeps mercy for thousands, but He will by no means clear the guilty.<\/p>\n
