28. A Servant of Jesus Christ<\/p>\n
The Greek word for \u201cservant,\u201d in the Book of Revelation, means a slave, and is rendered \u201cbondman\u201d and \u201cbond\u201d\u2014Rev_6:15; Rev_13:16; Rev_19:18. It occurs fourteen times, and in eleven instances indicates a servant of God, or of Christ.<\/p>\n
1. Revelation. \u201cShew unto His servants\u201d (11; Rev_22:6). God reveals to His servants what He does not make known to the world.<\/p>\n
2. Possession. \u201cHis servant John\u201d (Rev_1:1). We are the Lord\u2019s by creation, calling, purchase, and possession.<\/p>\n
3. Opposition. \u201cSeduce My servants\u201d (Rev_2:20). Satan and his emissaries do not trouble those who are his, but he and they are always at work to beguile and blast the Lord\u2019s.<\/p>\n
4. Preservation. \u201cSealed the servants of our God\u201d (Rev_7:3). Things are sealed for security and secrecy, so the Lord hides and preserves His own.<\/p>\n
5. Completion. \u201cAs He hath declared to His servants\u201d (Rev_10:7). God will fill to the full all He has declared shall be.<\/p>\n
6. Compensation \u201cShouldest give reward unto thy servants\u201d (Rev_11:18). The Lord has eyes to see, a heart to appreciate any service done to Him, and a reward is in His hands for those who have served.<\/p>\n
7. Recognition. \u201cMoses, the servant of God\u201d (Rev_15:3). The Lord knows each of His servants by name.<\/p>\n
8. Retribution. \u201cAvenge the blood of His servants\u201d (Rev_19:2). The saints who are saintly do not vindicate themselves, but the Lord does.<\/p>\n
9. Ascription. \u201cPraise our God, all ye His servants\u201d (Rev_19:5). Worship is the out-going of the heart in praise, gratitude, and adoration to the Lord.<\/p>\n
10. Consecration. \u201cHis servants shall serve Him\u201d (Rev_22:3). \u201cServe Him.\u201d To serve Him means loyalty, affection, thoroughness, and disinterestedness.<\/p>\n
