80. Called Out of Egypt<\/p>\n
Exo_9:1<\/p>\n
The call has a double application. It was a call to Pharaoh: \u201cLet My people go that they may serve Me,\u201d and it was a call to the Israelites to get out of Egypt.<\/p>\n
1. It was a call based upon God\u2019s covenant with Abraham, to give to him and his seed the promised land\u2014Exo_6:2-4.<\/p>\n
2. It was a call of deliverance, for Jehovah had determined to deliver Israel from the burden and bondage of Egypt\u2014Exo_6:5, Exo_6:6.<\/p>\n
3. It was a call based on sacrifice, as the whole of Exodus 12 depicts in the Passover ordinance.<\/p>\n
4. It was a call based on promise, for Jehovah had said, \u201cI will take you to Me for a people, and I will be to you a God\u201d (Exo_6:7).<\/p>\n
5. It was a call associated with what Jehovah calls \u201ca difference\u201d which He put \u201cbetween the Egyptians and Israel\u201d (Exo_11:7).<\/p>\n
6. It was a call illustrating power, for the night of Israel\u2019s deliverance was an exhibition of the right hand of God\u2019s delivering grace for Israel, and His outstretched arm of judgment against the Egyptians\u2014Exo_12:42.<\/p>\n
7. It was a call associated with a memorial feast to remind Israel of what Jehovah had done in bringing them out of Egyptian bondage\u2014Exo_12:43-51.<\/p>\n
