116. Christ \u201cHigher Than the Heavens\u201d<\/p>\n
The Holy Spirit rings the changes on the word \u201cmade\u201d in the Epistle to the Hebrews, in calling attention to what Christ has been \u201cmade.\u201d<\/p>\n
1. As Man, He is \u201cmade a little lower than the angels\u201d (Heb_2:7).<\/p>\n
2. As Kinsman, He is \u201cmade like His brethren\u201d (Heb_2:17).<\/p>\n
3. As Sufferer, He is \u201cmade perfect\u201d through His sufferings (Heb_5:9).<\/p>\n
4. As High Priest, He is \u201cmade an high priest after the order of Melchisedec\u201d (Heb_6:20).<\/p>\n
5. As Surety, He is \u201cmade surety of a better covenant\u201d (Heb_7:22).<\/p>\n
6. As Inheritor, He is \u201cmade so much better than the angels\u201d (Heb_1:4).<\/p>\n
7. As Exalted, He is \u201cmade higher than the Heavens\u201d (Heb_7:26).<\/p>\n
He took the lowest place when He was made \u201ca little lower than the angels\u201d in His incarnation (Heb_2:7); but He has obtained the highest place by His ascension, for He is made higher than the angels.<\/p>\n
The expression, \u201cmade higher than the Heavens,\u201d at once puts Christ in contrast to others.<\/p>\n
