132. Christ\u2019s Coming<\/p>\n
Blessedness for Those Who Are Found Watching<\/p>\n
In the parable of the lord returning from the wedding, Christ enforces and emphasises the Coming of Himself\u2014Luk_12:35-48. The distinctiveness of our Lord\u2019s return is declared no less than nine times in connection with the words: \u201cHe cometh,\u201d \u201cwill come,\u201d \u201ccome,\u201d \u201cThe Son of Man cometh,\u201d and \u201cHe shall come.\u201d In relation to the last, our Lord declares that when \u201cHe shall come\u201d and find His servants waiting and watching, those servants are \u201cblessed.\u201d They shall be \u201cblessed\u201d in many ways\u2014<\/p>\n
1. They shall be \u201cblessed\u201d with His approval, because they will be ready to \u201copen unto Him immediately,\u201d when \u201cHe cometh and knocketh\u201d (Luk_12:36).<\/p>\n
2. They shall be \u201cblessed\u201d with His service, for, finding them watching, \u201cHe will come forth and serve them\u201d (Luk_12:37).<\/p>\n
3. They shall be \u201cblessed\u201d in not suffering loss, for Christ implies in the parabolical language used, the man who does not watch against \u201cthe thief\u201d finds his house \u201cbroken through\u201d\u2014Luk_12:39, Luk_12:40.<\/p>\n
4. They shall be \u201cblessed\u201d for faithful and wise stewardship in being appointed rulers over the Lord\u2019s household, and in ministering to others\u2014Luk_12:42-44.<\/p>\n
The fact that those who are found watching shall be \u201cblessed\u201d implies that those who are not so found, will suffer loss and disapproval; yea, more, those servants will be \u201cbeaten with many stripes,\u201d who knew their Lord\u2019s will and did not \u201cprepare\u201d themselves; and also those who did not know their Lord\u2019s will, receive few stripes; and yet again, those who professed to be His servants, and presumed upon their position, will be \u201ccut\u201d off\u2014Luk_12:45-48.<\/p>\n
