192. Christ\u2019s Sevenfold Suffering<\/p>\n
How intense were the sufferings of Christ! He suffered in a sevenfold manner.<\/p>\n
1. At the hands of Satan, being tempted\u2014Luk_4:2.<\/p>\n
2. He suffered at the hands of God, as the surety for us. \u201cChrist hath suffered for us\u201d (1Pe_4:1)<\/p>\n
3. He suffered by way of anticipation. The Cross was ever before Him. \u201cThe Son of Man must suffer many things\u201d (Luk_9:22).<\/p>\n
4. He suffered at the hands of friends. Judas betrayed Him, Peter denied Him, and all His disciples forsook Him\u2014Luk_22:21, Luk_22:60; Mar_14:50.<\/p>\n
5. He suffered as His holy soul came in contact with sin\u2014Joh_12:27.<\/p>\n
6. He suffers in His members\u2014Act_9:4.<\/p>\n
7. He suffered at the hands of His enemies\u2014Luk_9:22.<\/p>\n
