229. Commands of the Lord<\/p>\n
Jas_4:7-10<\/p>\n
With every command of the Lord there is a promise of help.<\/p>\n
1. Submission. \u201cSubmit yourselves unto God.\u201d To give unto the Lord is to find He gives Himself to us.<\/p>\n
2. Opposition. \u201cResist the Devil and he will flee from you.\u201d The sword of the Spirit is the sure weapon to defeat the adversary.<\/p>\n
3. Communion. \u201cDraw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh unto you.\u201d If we draw near to Him in faith and faithfulness, He will draw near to us in power and grace.<\/p>\n
4. Purification. \u201cCleanse your hands.\u201d Dirty hands are a disgrace to a Christian and a defilement to others.<\/p>\n
5. Concentration. \u201cPurify your minds ye double-minded.\u201d Singleness of heart is the concentration of consecration.<\/p>\n
6. Affliction. \u201cBe afflicted and mourn.\u201d A contrite spirit, a weeping heart, and tears in the eyes are appreciated by God.<\/p>\n
7. Humiliation. \u201cHumble yourselves in the sight of the Lord.\u201d Humility is the queen of graces and Heaven\u2019s livery.<\/p>\n
