232. Complaints<\/p>\n
From Which the Church in Corinth Were Suffering<\/p>\n
1. Fits of Sectarianism. \u201cThere are contentions among you\u201d (1Co_1:11-13). Self-elation is the mother of a party spirit.<\/p>\n
2. Fever of Discontent. \u201cThere is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law with one another\u201d (1Co_6:1-8). We have rights that we may give them up.<\/p>\n
3. Carnality of Unspirituality. \u201cYe are yet carnal\u201d (1Co_3:1-3). A saint in a carnal state is worse than a sinner in a dead state!<\/p>\n
4. Swelled Head of Pride. \u201cYe are puffed up\u201d (1Co_5:2). Pride always causes the head to swell with conceit, and blurs the vision. Puffed eyes indicate a bad heart.<\/p>\n
5. Palsy of Sloth. The Church at Corinth allowed a brother in sin to remain in their midst, and gloried in it, hence the command to \u201cpurge out\u201d the leaven\u20141Co_5:1-8.<\/p>\n
6. Ague of Disorder. There was a babble of tongues, and a confusion in the assembly, hence the exhortation of 1 Corinthians 14.<\/p>\n
7. Hardness of Unbelief. Unbelief is the mother of many ills. Find out those mentioned in 1 Corinthians 9 and 1 Corinthians 10.<\/p>\n
