Contentment<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGodliness with Contentment Is Great Gain\u201d (1Ti_6:6)<\/p>\n<p>Contention and contentment are the same in the contents of their first two syllables, but what a difference in their contents as a whole. The Greek words arkeo and arketos give a chain of Scriptures which tell of the soul and secret of contentment. The words are rendered \u201cenough,\u201d \u201csufficient,\u201d \u201csuffice,\u201d and \u201ccontent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>1. A Dark Past. \u201cThe time past of our life may suffice us\u201d (1Pe_4:3).<\/p>\n<p>2. A Divine Saviour. \u201cShew us the Father and it sufficeth us,\u201d etc. (Joh_14:8).<\/p>\n<p>3. A Glorious Assurance. \u201cMy grace is sufficient for thee\u201d (2Co_12:9).<\/p>\n<p>4. A Happy Companionship. \u201cIt is enough that the disciple be as His Lord\u201d (Mat_10:25).<\/p>\n<p>5. An Imperative Command. \u201cBe content with such things as ye have\u201d (Heb_13:5).<\/p>\n<p>6. A Needful Reminder. \u201cSufficient unto the day is the evil thereof\u201d (Mat_6:34).<\/p>\n<p>7.
