297. \u201cDust\u201d in the Bible<\/p>\n
Sometimes dust is used metaphorically, such as, \u201cThe clouds are the dust of His feet\u201d (Nah_1:3); sometimes \u201cdust\u201d expresses an act of humility\u2014Jos_7:6; and often it denotes the actual dust of the ground.<\/p>\n
1. Creation. \u201cThe Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground\u201d (Gen_2:7). Man\u2019s lowly origin and frailty.<\/p>\n
2. Confession. \u201cLord, what am I but dust and ashes?\u201d (Gen_18:27). To take a low place before God is to find a high place in Him.<\/p>\n
3. Conversion. \u201cHe raiseth up out of the dust\u201d (1Sa_2:8). From the dust of sin, and shame, and self, the Lord raises to the realm of His salvation, love, and grace.<\/p>\n
4. Compassion. \u201cHe remembereth we are dust\u201d (Psa_103:14). In His love He remembers we are of lowly origin, and helps us in our weakness.<\/p>\n
5. Consecration. \u201cShake thyself from the dust\u201d (Isa_52:2). Dusty garments are a disgrace, but the beautiful clothing of His grace beautifies us.<\/p>\n
6. Consideration. \u201cI exalted thee out of the dust\u201d (1Ki_16:2). What the Lord has done for us is worthy of our grateful consideration.<\/p>\n
7. Conquest. \u201cHis enemies shall lick the dust\u201d (Psa_72:9). When Christ reigns all shall submit to Him.<\/p>\n
