299. \u201cEars\u201d in Action<\/p>\n
The ear is often identified with expressive meaning and holy association.<\/p>\n
1. Bored Ear. \u201cHis master shall bore his ear\u201d (Exo_21:6). The willing slave would rather serve his master than have his liberty.<\/p>\n
2. Consecrated Ear. \u201cUpon the tip of Aaron\u2019s right ear\u201d<\/p>\n
(Lev_8:23-24). The blood and oil consecrates the ear to God\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n
3. Inclined Ear. \u201cConsider and incline thine ear\u201d (Psa_45:10). When we incline to a given direction we are practically gone to that way.<\/p>\n
4. Awakened Ear. \u201cHe wakeneth mine ear\u201d (Isa_1:4). Listening to the Lord, we shall have something to say for the Lord.<\/p>\n
5. Hearing Ear. \u201cLet him hear\u201d (Rev_2:7, Rev_2:11, Rev_2:17, Rev_2:29; Rev_3:6, Rev_3:13, Rev_3:22; Rev_13:9). The Spirit\u2019s voice calls for prompt, constant, and practical heeding.<\/p>\n
6. Uncircumcised Ear. \u201cTheir ear is uncircumcised\u201d (Jer_6:10). Circumcision means the cutting off of inattention, and not to have it signifies we are in rebellion.<\/p>\n
7. Dull Ears. \u201cEars dull of hearing\u201d (Mat_13:15). To be deaf to the Lord is to shut our ears to our own interest.<\/p>\n
