This forgiveness is<\/p>\n<p>1. Specific in its blessing. \u201cHaving forgiven you all trespasses\u201d (Col_2:13). Sinners are the recipients. Mark the \u201ctrespasses\u201d and \u201cyou.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>2. Sovereign in its bestowment. \u201cThou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people\u201d (Psa_85:2). If the Lord had not done it, it would never have been done.<\/p>\n<p>3. Sufficient in its atonement. \u201cIt shall be forgiven,\u201d because \u201catonement has been made concerning his sin\u201d (Lev_4:20; Lev_4:26; Lev_4:31; Lev_4:35; Lev_5:10, Lev_5:13, Lev_5:16). The blood of expiation is the ground of remission.<\/p>\n<p>4. Soul-stirring in its enjoyment. \u201cBlessed (or, \u201cOh! the blessedness\u201d) is he whose transgression is forgiven\u201d (Psa_32:1).<\/p>\n<p>5. Certain in its assurance. \u201cYour sins are forgiven\u201d (1Jn_2:12). Note the past tense, \u201care,\u201d and also the reason, \u201cFor His Name\u2019s sake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>6. Exemplary for our imitation. \u201cForgive and ye shall be forgiven\u201d (Luk_6:37), even \u201cas God for Christ\u2019s sake\u201d has \u201cforgiven\u201d you (Eph_4:32).<\/p>\n<p>7. Happy in its enjoyment. \u201cBlessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven\u201d (Rom_4:7). When the load of sin is gone, then the man is joyful in his going.<\/p>\n<p>By: DR. F. E.
