412. \u201cGreat Things\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWho has Done Great Things, O God\u201d Psa_71:19<\/p>\n
C. H. Spurgeon, that prince of preachers, once said: \u201cGod\u2019s mercy is so great that it forgives great sins to great sinners after great lengths of time, and then gives great favours and great privileges, and raises us up to great enjoyments in the great Heaven of the great God. As John Bunyan well said, \u2018It must be great mercy or no mercy, for little mercy will never serve my turn.\u2019\u201c<\/p>\n
Many are the great things the great God has done. The following are a few of the great things He shows us:<\/p>\n
1. Loved with a \u201cGreat Love\u201d (Eph_2:4). His love is a fathomless ocean, a mine of wealth, a lasting spring, a glorious provision, a sun of warmth, a lifting power, and an unceasing inspiration.<\/p>\n
2. Saved with a \u201cGreat Salvation\u201d (Heb_2:3). God is its source, man is its object, Christ is its embodiment, deliverance is its meaning, the Spirit is its power, faith is its receiver, holiness is its outcome, and glory is its consummation.<\/p>\n
3. Thrilled with a \u201cGreat Joy\u201d (Luk_2:10; Act_8:8; Act_15:3). The Saviour is its secret, substance, supply, and source. His joy makes our joy full and lasting.<\/p>\n
4. Strengthened with \u201cGreat Power\u201d (Act_4:33). The Spirit\u2019s enduement is the power to keep us right, and to work in and through us with effective might.<\/p>\n
5. Communing with \u201cGreat Delight\u201d (Son_2:3). Sitting under the shadow of His Cross, and listening to the voice of His Word, and feeding on the promises of His grace, we have \u201cgreat delight\u201d in His presence.<\/p>\n
6. Enjoying the \u201cGreat Peace\u201d of His Word (Psa_119:165). To love God\u2019s Word is to find the joy of His grace, the tenderness of His love, the holiness of His sanctity, and the peace of His promises.<\/p>\n
7. Expecting the \u201cGreat Glory\u201d (Luk_21:27). When Christ comes to the world His saints will come with Him. He will not have the glory apart from His saints, and it would be no glory if He were not with it.<\/p>\n
