416. Hand of God<\/p>\n
In Ezra 7-8. Ezr_7:15-28<\/p>\n
1. A Ready Leader\u2014Ezr_7:6. \u201cReady\u201d means \u201cskilful\u201d or quick. The word comes from a root which means to flow easily, to be liquid, hence to be prompt, to answer, to do. There was no hesitation or trepidation. To be ready in the things of God shows we are in touch with the God of the things.<\/p>\n
2. Supplied Leader\u2014Ezr_7:6. Behind the king\u2019s granting him \u201call his request\u201d is \u201caccording to the hand of his God.\u201d Earthly stores come from the Lord\u2019s cupboard.<\/p>\n
3. Prepared Leader\u2014Ezr_7:10. Before Ezra taught others he \u201cprepared\u201d himself, and he \u201cprepared\u201d himself by the best possible means, namely, \u201cprepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n
4. Recognised Leader. The King of Persia recognised that Ezra was a man who was instructed in the commandments and law of God\u2014see the frequent references to the fact in Ezr_7:11-12, Ezr_7:21, Ezr_7:23, Ezr_7:25, Ezr_7:26. When we recognise God by our obedience to His Word He will cause others to recognise us to our honour.<\/p>\n
5. Thankful Leader\u2014Ezr_7:27, Ezr_7:28. Ezra praised \u201cthe Lord God of our fathers,\u201d and acknowledged all that came to him through the king was from \u201cthe hand of the Lord my God.\u201d<\/p>\n
6. Associated Leader\u2014Ezr_8:15-20, Ezr_8:24-30. A leader must have someone to lead, and each and all go to make the sum total of success. \u201cThe priests\u201d and \u201cthe people,\u201d the \u201cmen of understanding\u201d and the \u201cman of understanding,\u201d the sons of Levi, and \u201call who were expressed by name\u201d were required in the Lord\u2019s work and worship.<\/p>\n
7. Prayerful Leader\u2014Ezr_8:21-23. Mark the expressive words: \u201cTo seek of Him a right way,\u201d \u201cThe hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek Him,\u201d \u201cBesought our God for this, and He was entreated of us.\u201d<\/p>\n
8. Conquering Leader\u2014Ezr_8:31, Ezr_8:32. Ezra not only started on his journey to Jerusalem, but he got there, and he was able because of the \u201chand of God\u201d to lead his host, to keep from being ensnared, and conquered by the way.<\/p>\n
