420. Harvest<\/p>\n
Harvest time is associated with many things,<\/p>\n
1. Blessing from the Lord. \u201cThou crownest the year with Thy goodness\u201d (Psa_65:11, Psa_65:13). See the \u201cThou\u2019s\u201d of Psalms 65. God\u2019s coronation time is the harvest time.<\/p>\n
2. Faithfulness of the Lord. \u201cWhile the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest… shall not cease\u201d (Gen_8:22). He binds Himself in love to bless us in grace.<\/p>\n
3. Communion with the Lord. \u201cOne soweth, and another reapeth\u201d (Joh_4:37). When we look upon the fields of man\u2019s need with the eyes and heart of Christ, we must have fellowship with each other, because we have fellowship with Him.<\/p>\n
4. Responsibility to the Lord. In reaping the fields, the poor were to be remembered\u2014Lev_19:9; and the firstfruits were to be given to the Lord\u2014Exo_23:15, Exo_23:19.<\/p>\n
5. Remembered by the Lord. The direction about the forgotten sheaf is very suggestive. What we forget is remembered by the Lord. Our loss is another\u2019s benefit, and another\u2019s benefit is always a benefit to us\u2014Deu_24:19.<\/p>\n
6. Joy in the Lord. The harvest is a time of joy. God\u2019s bounties are inspirations to praise. His givings cause our rejoicings\u2014Isa_9:3; Psa_136:6.<\/p>\n
7. Gathered Before the Lord. The redeemed who have fallen asleep will be the firstfruits, and the righteous will be gathered in the Lord\u2019s garner, but the wicked will be cast out\u2014Mat_13:37-43.<\/p>\n
