436. Holy Spirit As the Speaker<\/p>\n
In the Acts<\/p>\n
At least seven times we find the Holy Spirit speaking in the Acts of the Apostles, or reference is made to His having spoken, and in each Scripture we are reminded of His personality and authority.<\/p>\n
1. He is a Prophesying Speaker\u2014Act_1:16. He draws on one side the veil which hides the future and gives us to see what is to take place in the days to come.<\/p>\n
2. He is a Guarding Speaker\u2014Act_15:28. He points out, as a faithful friend, that which would clog the believer in his walk and hinder him in his usefulness.<\/p>\n
3. He is a Restraining Speaker\u2014Act_16:6. He is the Lord, the Spirit, hence He does not allow His servants to go where they will. He has the right to command, and the power to forbid.<\/p>\n
4. He is a Warning Speaker\u2014Act_20:23. Danger and persecution lie in the path of every true follower of Christ, but the Holy Spirit is the One who arms us by His forewarning.<\/p>\n
5. He is a Predicting Speaker\u2014Act_21:11. Peace and persecution, trial and triumph, conflict and conquest go together, but He who tells us of the one assures us of the other.<\/p>\n
6. He is a Reproving Speaker\u2014Act_28:25. To be deaf to Christ\u2019s entreaties, and blind to His beauty, is to be in a sorry condition.<\/p>\n
7. He is a Separating Speaker\u2014Act_13:2. Paul and Barnabas did not take upon themselves the task of separating themselves to the Lord\u2019s work, neither were they set apart by man, but the Holy Spirit Himself set them apart for the ministry of the Gospel. He called, He equipped, He qualified, and He empowered.<\/p>\n
