\u201cShew Piety at Home\u201d 1Ti_5:4<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat politics is your husband?\u201d asked a canvasser concerning the absent spouse; and the wife replied: \u201cWell, it\u2019s like this\u2014sometimes he goes to a Liberal meeting, and then he\u2019s a Liberal; sometimes he goes to a Conservative meeting, and then he\u2019s a Conservative.\u201d \u201cBut,\u201d demanded the canvasser, \u201cwhat is he when he is at home?\u201d \u201cOh, then,\u201d explained the wife, \u201cthen he\u2019s an old nuisance.\u201d<\/p>\n
What we are at home is the test of what we are at all.<\/p>\n
What should we be at home?<\/p>\n
1. Witnesses, to tell what the Lord has done for us, as Christ told the saved demoniac\u2014Mar_5:19.<\/p>\n
2. Receivers, to entertain Christ, as He said to Zaccheus, \u201cToday I must abide at thy home.\u201d (The word \u201chouse\u201d in Luk_19:5, is rendered \u201chome\u201d in 1Co_11:34.)<\/p>\n
3. Consistent Ones, for we are \u201cfirst to shew piety at home\u201d (1Ti_5:4).<\/p>\n
4. Faithful Ones, like Moses, who was \u201cfaithful in all his house,\u201d or \u201chome\u201d (Heb_3:2, Heb_3:5).<\/p>\n
5. Prayerful Intercessors, like Cornelius, who prayed in his house or home\u2014Act_10:30.<\/p>\n
