448. \u201cIf Any Man\u201d<\/p>\n
The universality of Christ\u2019s invitations and claims is comprehensively revealed in the sentence, \u201cIf any man,\u201d as found in John\u2019s Gospel.<\/p>\n
1. Eternal Life. \u201cIf any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever\u201d (Joh_6:51). Eternal life has to do with the Being of God, and is the positive blessing of the Gospel.<\/p>\n
2. Secret of Knowledge. \u201cIf any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine\u201d (Joh_7:17). The secrets of the Lord are with them who fear Him.<\/p>\n
3. Satisfaction. \u201cIf any man thirst, let him come unto Me and drink\u201d (Joh_7:37). He wants everything, who wants Christ, and He is the Meeter of every need.<\/p>\n
4. Salvation. \u201cIf any man enter in, he shall be saved\u201d (Joh_10:9). Christ is the entrance to every blessing.<\/p>\n
5. Walk. \u201cIf any man walketh in the day, he stumbleth not\u201d (Joh_21:9). To walk in the light is the soul of right.<\/p>\n
6. Following Christ. \u201cIf any man serve Me, let him follow Me\u201d (Joh_12:26). The way to serve Him is to follow Him.<\/p>\n
7. Honoured. \u201cIf any man serve Me, him will My Father honour\u201d (Joh_12:26). What is done to Christ is reckoned by the Father as done to Him.<\/p>\n
8. Judgment. \u201cIf any man hear My words, and believe not… the Word I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day\u201d (Joh_12:47-48). How men treat Christ and His Word is the basis of judgment.<\/p>\n
