452. \u201cIncline Thine Ear\u201d<\/p>\n
The meaning of the Hebrew word for \u201cincline\u201d is \u201cto stretch out,\u201d that is, to turn aside and give special attention to the suppliant. Natah is rendered \u201cstretched out\u201d in Exo_6:6; Isa_9:12, Isa_9:17, Isa_9:21; and \u201cturn aside\u201d in Isa_30:11.<\/p>\n
1. Confidence. \u201cThou wilt hear me, O God: incline Thine ear unto me\u201d (Psa_17:6). Confidence in God will secure communications from Him. The open hand of faith is filled with the answered request.<\/p>\n
2. Salvation. \u201cIncline Thine ear unto me, and save me\u201d (Psa_71:2). A consciousness of danger will cause the cry for deliverance from it.<\/p>\n
3. Strength. \u201cIncline Thine ear… for my soul is full of trouble… I am a man that hath no strength\u201d (Psa_88:2-4). A strengthless condition makes way for the Lord\u2019s strengthful conquests.<\/p>\n
4. Trouble. \u201cI am in trouble: incline Thine ear unto me\u201d (Psa_102:2). \u201cCall upon Me in the day of trouble.\u201d When we couple our prayers with God\u2019s promises, we command God\u2019s attention and deliverance.<\/p>\n
5. Forgiveness. \u201cO my God, incline Thine ear… forgive\u201d (Dan_9:18-19). We should not only cry for personal forgiveness, but for national forgiveness too. We are united in the whole, and have a personal responsibility.<\/p>\n
6. Victory. \u201cIncline Thine ear, O Lord… save… smote\u201d (Isa_37:15-20, Isa_37:36). The munitions of prayer are more effective than the manufacturers of earth.<\/p>\n
7. Counterpart. \u201cIncline thine ear\u201d (Psa_45:10). To incline to the Lord with the heart is to love Him\u2014Jos_24:23; to His testimonies is to obey Him\u2014Psa_119:36; and to Himself is to respond to Him\u2014Isa_55:3.<\/p>\n
