455. Indispensable Things<\/p>\n
Talking with an aged saint, poor in this world\u2019s goods, but rich in faith, she remarked, \u201cThere are a great many things I can do without.\u201d Playfully I said, \u201cCan you do without Jesus?\u201d \u201cNo, no,\u201d she exclaimed; \u201cten thousand times no!\u201d Her exclamation reminded me of a Bible reading, which is as follows:<\/p>\n
1. Propitiating Blood. \u201cWithout shedding of blood is no remission\u201d (Heb_9:22).<\/p>\n
2. Pleasing Faith. \u201cWithout faith it is impossible to please God\u201d (Heb_11:6).<\/p>\n
3. Paternal Chastening. \u201cWithout chastisement,… ye are not sons\u201d (Heb_12:8).<\/p>\n
4. Practical Holiness. \u201cHoliness, without which no man shall see the Lord\u201d (Heb_12:14).<\/p>\n
5. Proving Works. \u201cFaith without works is dead\u201d (Jas_2:26).<\/p>\n
6. Possessing Love. Without love, \u201cI am nothing\u201d (1Co_13:2).<\/p>\n
7. Providing Power. \u201cWithout Me ye can do nothing\u201d (Joh_15:5).<\/p>\n
