467. Israel: God\u2019s Peculiar People<\/p>\n
1. Peculiar in Choice. \u201cThou shalt be blessed above all people\u201d (Deu_7:14). The act of Jehovah was selective and elective.<\/p>\n
2. Peculiar in Place. \u201cThe people shall dwell alone\u201d (Num_23:9). Separated from the rest of the nations, and to the Land of Palestine.<\/p>\n
3. Peculiar in Title. \u201cHis peculiar people\u201d (Deu_26:18), and \u201ctreasure\u201d (Exo_19:5), and \u201cMy people\u201d (Exo_8:1).<\/p>\n
4. Peculiar in Affection. \u201cYea, He loved the people\u201d (Deu_33:3), not because they were worthy, but because He would.<\/p>\n
5. Peculiar in Purpose. \u201cThou art a holy people unto the Lord.\u201d \u201cSpecial people unto Himself\u201d (Deu_7:6).<\/p>\n
6. Peculiar in Relationship. \u201cTreasure unto Me above all people\u201d (Exo_19:5). The jewels of the Lord are found in those whom He calls so frequently \u201cMy people.\u201d<\/p>\n
7. Peculiar in Covenant. \u201cHis holy covenant\u201d (Luk_1:68-72). See also Exo_2:24; Exo_6:4-5; Deu_5:3. He pledges Himself with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob to bless His people Israel.<\/p>\n
