486. Jew and Palestine<\/p>\n
1. There is one people whom Jehovah calls His \u201cpeculiar treasure unto Me above all people\u201d (Exo_19:5).<\/p>\n
2. There is one land which is called \u201choly\u201d (Zec_2:12), and promised to Israel for an \u201ceverlasting possession\u201d (Gen_17:8).<\/p>\n
3. There is one city which is called \u201cthe beloved city\u201d (literally, \u201cthe dearly-beloved\u201d), and which Jehovah will \u201cmake a praise in the earth,\u201d and that is Jerusalem (Rev_20:9; Isa_62:7).<\/p>\n
4. There is one mountain which has been honoured in the land of Palestine, and that is the Mount of Olives, for Christ\u2019s sacred feet last rested upon it ere He ascended to Heaven\u2014Act_1:12; and it is upon that mountain His holy feet will stand when He returns in manifest glory to the earth, and which mountain will be the object of great and momentous convulsions\u2014Zec_14:4.<\/p>\n
5. There is one temple which is to be the scene of the greatest sacrilege ever committed in a holy place, and that temple will be the rebuilt one in which the abomination of the Antichrist will be set up\u2014Dan_9:27; Mat_24:15.<\/p>\n
6. There is one throne upon which Jehovah has said a descendant of David is to sit for ever\u20142Sa_7:10-17; Luk_1:31-33. and therefore peculiarly honoured and magnified by Him.<\/p>\n
7. And there is one Man in whom all God\u2019s plans centre, and He is a Jew\u2014namely, Christ, for He is distinctly said to be of the Seed of David\u20142. Tim. Luk_2:8; of Israel\u2014Rom_9:5; and the Son of Abraham and David\u2014Mat_1:1.<\/p>\n
