578. \u201cNo Orders, Except From the King\u201d<\/p>\n
Or, \u201cSeven Times Go, From God\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThings whatsoever I have commanded\u201d (Mat_28:20). Major-General Sir George Younghusband, the Keeper of the Jewel House of the Tower of London, who has been granted a vacant good service pension, enjoys a curious privilege in that \u201che hath no superior officer in Court or Kingdom.\u201d He receives no orders except from the King himself, or conveyed to him through the Lord Chamberlain. The origin of the rule is clear, for in more turbulent days it would have been easy for some traitor to order the Keeper to hand over the King\u2019s jewels to him. In spite of this care, however, the jewels were tampered with and sometimes stolen. The magnificent \u201caquamarine,\u201d which used to be on the top of the King\u2019s Crown, was found to be of glass; where the original went none can say.<\/p>\n
As the Keeper of the jewels receives no orders but through the King himself, so there are seven commands which the Lord alone gives. These commands are found in seven \u201cGo\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n
1. Adjustment. \u201cGo and tell him of his fault\u201d (Mat_18:15).<\/p>\n
2. Activity. \u201cGo and work today\u201d (Mat_21:28).<\/p>\n
3. Alertness. \u201cGo out and meet Him\u201d (Mat_25:6).<\/p>\n
4. Attention. \u201cGo home to thy friends and tell,\u201d etc. (Mar_5:19).<\/p>\n
5. Fruitfulness. \u201cGo and bring forth fruit\u201d (Joh_15:16).<\/p>\n
6. Separation. \u201cGo and sin no more\u201d (Joh_8:11).<\/p>\n
7. Testimony. \u201cGo and preach the Gospel\u201d (Mar_16:15). When our Lord says \u201cGo,\u201d faith recognises His authority, and love is swift to respond to His direction.<\/p>\n
