604. Outlook<\/p>\n
Dr. Mullins, of America, in speaking at a meeting in Spurgeon\u2019s Tabernacle, referred to the uncertain explanations and definitions which are given of philosophy; and gave a definition of it, as \u201cA blind man in a dark room, looking for a black cat which is not there!\u201d<\/p>\n
Some might think the definition over defined, but there is no ambiguousness when we are bidden to think of the future. This is seen if we ponder what we are taught by the Word of God to look for.<\/p>\n
1. We are looking for the \u201cBlessed Hope\u201d and the glorious appearing of the Lord\u2019s return\u2014Tit_2:13.<\/p>\n
2. We are \u201clooking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life\u201d (Jud_1:21).<\/p>\n
3. We are \u201clooking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God\u201d (2Pe_3:12).<\/p>\n
4. We are \u201clooking for the Saviour\u201d to give us a glorified body (Php_3:20-21).<\/p>\n
5. We are looking for Himself to \u201cappear\u201d (Heb_9:28).<\/p>\n
6. We are looking for \u201cnew Heavens and a new earth\u201d (2Pe_3:13).<\/p>\n
7. Then we are also reminded of this outlook in its practical power, when the Spirit says: \u201cWherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless\u201d (2Pe_3:14).<\/p>\n
