619. Paul\u2019s Personal Injunctions to Timothy<\/p>\n
1. A Becoming Behaviour. \u201cMayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself\u201d (1Ti_3:15). A becoming behaviour becomes every one.<\/p>\n
2. An Active Athlete. \u201cExercise thyself unto godliness\u201d (1Ti_4:7). The exercise of the soul in godliness is the sure way to avoid gracelessness.<\/p>\n
3. A Meditative Student. \u201cGive thyself wholly to them\u201d (1Ti_4:15). A concentrated mind is sure to reach a commendable end.<\/p>\n
4. A Careful Custodian. \u201cTake heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine\u201d (1Ti_4:16). To apply the Word wholly to oneself, it is necessary to apply oneself wholly to the Word.<\/p>\n
5. A Saved Servant. \u201cDoing this thou shalt both save thyself and them that hear thee\u201d (1Ti_4:16). To practice the Word fully is the only way to preserve oneself from defeat entirely.<\/p>\n
6. A Clean Man. \u201cKeep thyself pure\u201d (1Ti_5:22). The cleansing from sin\u2019s pollution is only possible by the Saviour\u2019s presence. We keep as we are kept.<\/p>\n
7. A Separate Saint. \u201cFrom such withdraw thyself\u201d (1Ti_6:5). The place of separation is the place of power.<\/p>\n
8. An Approved Worker. \u201cStudy to shew thyself approved unto God\u201d (2Ti_2:15). To please the Lord is the secret of true pleasure.<\/p>\n
