667. Pride<\/p>\n
Study Could Be Divided Into 2, 3, or 4<\/p>\n
The life and death of our Lord Jesus Christ are a standing rebuke to every form of pride to which we are subject.<\/p>\n
1. Pride of Birth and Rank. \u201cIs not this the carpenter\u2019s son?\u201d (Mat_13:55).<\/p>\n
2. Pride of Wealth. \u201cThe Son of Man hath not where to lay His head\u201d (Mat_8:20).<\/p>\n
3. Pride of Respectability. \u201cCan any good thing come out of Nazareth?\u201d \u201cHe shall be called a Nazarene\u201d (Joh_1:46; Mat_2:23).<\/p>\n
4. Pride of Personal Appearance. \u201cHe hath no form or comeliness\u201d (Isa_53:2).<\/p>\n
5. Pride of Reputation. \u201cBehold a man gluttonous and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners\u201d (Mat_11:19).<\/p>\n
6. Pride of Independence. \u201cMany others who ministered to Him of their substance\u201d (Luk_8:3).<\/p>\n
7. Pride of Learning. \u201cHow knoweth this Man letters, having never learned\u201d (Joh_7:15).<\/p>\n
8. Pride of Superiority. \u201cI am among you as He that serveth.\u201d \u201cHe humbled Himself.\u201d \u201cMade a curse for us\u201d (Luk_22:27; Php_2:8; Gal_3:13).<\/p>\n
9. Pride of Success. \u201cHe came unto His own and His own received Him not.\u201d \u201cNeither did His brethren believe on Him.\u201d \u201cHe was despised and rejected of men\u201d (Joh_1:11; Joh_7:5; Isa_53:3).<\/p>\n
10. Pride of Self-reliance. \u201cHe went down to Nazareth, and was subject unto them\u201d (Luk_2:51).<\/p>\n
11. Pride of Ability. \u201cI can of Mine Own Self do nothing\u201d (Joh_5:30).<\/p>\n
12. Pride of Self-will. \u201cI seek not Mine Own will, but the will of Him that sent Me\u201d (Joh_5:30).<\/p>\n
13. Pride of Intellect. \u201cAs My Father hath taught Me, I speak these things\u201d (Joh_8:28).<\/p>\n
14. Pride of Party. \u201cForbid him not, for he that is not against us is for us\u201d (Luk_9:50).<\/p>\n
15. Pride of Resentment. \u201cFather, forgive them; for they know not what they do\u201d (Luk_23:34).<\/p>\n
16. Pride of Reserve. \u201cMy soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here and watch with Me.\u201d \u201cThe Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected\u201d (Mat_26:38; Luk_9:22).<\/p>\n
17. Pride of Sanctity. \u201cThis Man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them\u201d (Luk_15:2).<\/p>\n
\u201cLet this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus\u201d (Php_2:5).<\/p>\n
