673. Psalms 47<\/p>\n
Five times in this Psalm we are exhorted to \u201csing praises\u201d (Psa_47:6-7), and to sing them \u201cto God,\u201d \u201cunto our King,\u201d and to \u201csing with the understanding.\u201d Some reasons why we should \u201csing praises\u201d are\u2014<\/p>\n
1. Because of what the Lord is. \u201cJehovah Most High is terrible,\u201d \u201cGreat King over all the earth,\u201d \u201cOur King,\u201d and \u201cThe God of Abraham\u201d (Psa_47:2, Psa_47:6, Psa_47:9).<\/p>\n
2. Because of what He has done. \u201cGod is gone up with a shout,\u201d speaking of victory over His enemies (Psa_47:5).<\/p>\n
3. Because of what He is doing, and can do. He \u201csubdueth,\u201d \u201cHe chooseth,\u201d (R.V.), \u201cGod reigneth… sitteth\u201d (Psa_47:3-4, Psa_47:8).<\/p>\n
4. Because of what He is to us. \u201cThe God of Abraham\u201d (Psa_47:9).<\/p>\n
5. Because of what He calls us. \u201cThe Excellency of Jacob\u201d (Psa_47:4).<\/p>\n
