680. Redemption\u2014What Is It?<\/p>\n
1. Subjects of Redemption. Those who were in bondage to a \u201cvain manner of living\u201d (1Pe_1:18, R.V.).<\/p>\n
2. Source of Redemption. Of God it is said that \u201cHis grace\u201d operates \u201cthrough the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,\u201d and that the redemption comes to us \u201caccording to the riches of His grace\u201d (Rom_3:24; Eph_1:7).<\/p>\n
3. Price of Redemption. The price is \u201cHis Blood\u201d (Eph_1:7), which Christ gave as \u201ca ransom\u201d (Mat_20:28), and is the equivalent for all demands\u20141Ti_2:6.<\/p>\n
4. Substance of Redemption. Christ is its Substance and Embodiment, hence, \u201cHe is made unto us Redemption\u201d (1Co_1:30).<\/p>\n
5. Receiver of Redemption. Faith, like Anna, who \u201clooked for redemption\u201d (Luk_2:38), finds what it looks for in the Redeemer.<\/p>\n
6. Meaning of Redemption is \u201cdeliverance.\u201d The Lion of the tribe of Judah breaks every chain\u2014Heb_11:35.<\/p>\n
7. Consummation of Redemption is when our Lord returns. Hence, we are waiting for \u201cthe redemption of our body\u201d (Rom_8:23).<\/p>\n
