721. Satan\u2019s Wily Wiles<\/p>\n
Satan has many wiles and weapons, and by means of them deceives and defeats us.<\/p>\n
1. Wiles to Deceive. \u201cWiles of the Devil\u201d (Eph_6:11). With cunning and craft he lies in wait, like a wrecker with a false light.<\/p>\n
2. Darts to Hurt. \u201cFiery darts of the evil one\u201d (Eph_6:16, R.V.). His darts are intended to do us harm, as they did in the case of Job.<\/p>\n
3. Snares to Entrap. \u201cThe snare of the Devil.\u201d Pride, riches, and error are some of his snares (1Ti_3:7; 1Ti_6:9; 2Ti_2:26).<\/p>\n
4. Devices to Defraud. \u201cWe are not ignorant of his devices\u201d (2Co_2:11), and those devices are to get advantages over us to rob us.<\/p>\n
5. Buffets to Injure. \u201cThe messenger of Satan to buffet me\u201d (2Co_12:7). Buffet means to hit one with a clenched fist.<\/p>\n
6. Sifts to Remove. \u201cSatan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat\u201d (Luk_22:31). He sifts to get rid of faith, love, consecration, prayer, faithfulness, watchfulness, and power.<\/p>\n
7. Tares to Choke. \u201cEnemy came and sowed tares\u201d (Mat_13:25). The tares resemble the wheat, but they are destructive to it.<\/p>\n
