780. \u201cSo\u201d<\/p>\n
Words are windows to let the light of thought in. Small words have their mission as well as large ones. \u201cSo\u201d frequently occurs in the book of Nehemiah. We give a few instances.<\/p>\n
1. The \u201cSo\u201d of Prayer. \u201cSo I prayed\u201d (Neh_2:4). Nehemiah sandwiched the \u201crequest\u201d of the king and his answer with prayer.<\/p>\n
2. The \u201cSo\u201d of Purpose. \u201cSo I came\u201d (Neh_2:11). He did not sit idly at home when the Lord\u2019s work called away.<\/p>\n
3. The \u201cSo\u201d of Plod. \u201cSo we built\u201d (Neh_4:6, Neh_4:10, Neh_4:18, Neh_4:21). Difficulties, enemies, rubbish, and discouragements did not hinder.<\/p>\n
4. The \u201cSo\u201d of Perseverance. \u201cSo that I cannot come down\u201d (Neh_6:3). The cure for mischief-makers is to keep on with the Lord\u2019s work.<\/p>\n
5. The \u201cSo\u201d of Perfection. \u201cSo the wall was finished\u201d (Neh_6:15). Thus prayer fed purpose, and purpose helped plod, and plod was crowned with perfection.<\/p>\n
6. The \u201cSo\u201d of Personality. \u201cSo did I\u201d (Neh_5:15). The man of God does not walk in sin\u2019s ways, nor according to his own wishes.<\/p>\n
7. The \u201cSo\u201d of Power. \u201cSo the Levites stilled all the people\u201d (Neh_8:11). According to the law they acted, and so influenced others to be still.<\/p>\n
