812. \u201cTake Heed to the Sure Word of Prophecy\u201d<\/p>\n
1. Because of what it is. Jehovah says it is \u201cMy Word\u201d (Isa_55:11). It is His Word because He is its Author, because it reveals Himself through it, and it is His message to us.<\/p>\n
2. Because of what it promises. \u201cI will hasten My Word to perform it\u201d (Jer_1:12; Jer_29:10). His promises are cheques payable to bearer, cashed by faith, and enjoyed in communion with Himself.<\/p>\n
3. Because of what it does. \u201cIs not My Word like as a fire?\u201d (Jer_23:28-29). As fire burns and warms, so the Lord\u2019s Word warms the heart of the saint to his blessing, and scorches the sinner to his undoing.<\/p>\n
4. Because of what it commands. \u201cWalk in My statutes, execute My judgments, and keep all My commandments\u201d (1Ki_6:11-12). Mark the \u201cIf\u201d of command, coupled with the promise, \u201cI will perform My Word.\u201d Precepts obeyed secure pledges given.<\/p>\n
5. Because of what it reveals. \u201cHe that heareth My Word\u201d (Joh_5:24). This great verse reveals God\u2019s love in sending Christ; life is given to those who believe on Christ, the believer is passed out of death into life, those who have life \u201cshall not come into condemnation,\u201d and are assured by Christ of their personal safety.<\/p>\n
6. Because of what it contains. Christ again and again speaks of the message He brings as \u201cMy Word\u201d (Joh_5:24; Joh_8:31, Joh_8:37, Joh_8:43; Rev_3:8, Rev_3:10). This specific covers all He said as \u201cThe Word.\u201d<\/p>\n
7. Because of what His Words impart. Ponder the following passages where Christ speaks of \u201cMy Words,\u201d and it will be found by means of them, He gives reliability\u2014Mat_24:35; life\u2014Joh_6:63; salvation\u2014Joh_12:47-48; revelation\u2014Joh_14:10; His presence\u2014Joh_14:23; and promise of answered prayer\u2014Joh_15:7.<\/p>\n
\u201cBelieve His words,<\/p>\n
His words are life and beauty,<\/p>\n
His words command thy duty,<\/p>\n
Believe His words.\u201d<\/p>\n
