817. Tests<\/p>\n
\u201cHe That Judgeth (Testeth) Me Is the Lord\u201d 1Co_4:4<\/p>\n
There is in the Mint a marvellously delicate machine for assaying the weight of gold. Sovereigns are made to pass through a tube, and when they come to the end, the machine acts so that those which are overweight are thrown to the right, and those under weight are thrown to the left. Only those of exact weight are allowed to pass on.<\/p>\n
There are several things which will be tested at the judgment-seat of Christ.<\/p>\n
1. The \u201chidden things\u201d of the inner life will be made to stand out in the light (1Co_4:5).<\/p>\n
2. The \u201ccounsels,\u201d or the purposes of \u201cthe heart,\u201d will be manifest as they were known (1Co_4:5).<\/p>\n
3. The \u201cwork\u201d of the Christian worker will be revealed as to its \u201csort\u201d (1Co_3:3).<\/p>\n
4. The character of the material used in the Lord\u2019s service will be revealed\u20141Co_13:11-13.<\/p>\n
5. Any work that will not stand the test of the revealing fire will be \u201cburnt up\u201d (1Co_3:15).<\/p>\n
6. Our motives will be examined and scrutinised as to their purity\u20142Co_5:9, 2Co_5:10.<\/p>\n
7. Reward will be given to those who have faithfully served their Lord\u2014Luk_19:16-19.<\/p>\n
