843. The Prayer of Daniel<\/p>\n
Dan_6:10-11<\/p>\n
The safety valve of Daniel\u2019s persecution was prayer to the Lord. There are five things we note about Daniel\u2019s praying.<\/p>\n
1. It was reverent, for like a humble courtier in the presence of his king, \u201che kneeled.\u201d<\/p>\n
2. His prayer was constant, for like the regular chiming of a good clock, so he had the regular periods of \u201cthree times a day\u201d for prayer.<\/p>\n
3. His prayer was mingled with gratitude, for as the hen lifts up her head in drinking, so Daniel lifted up his heart in thanksgiving while praying.<\/p>\n
4. His prayer was believing, for as the child will expect his father to keep to his promise, so Daniel prayed towards the temple of God\u2019s atoning love, forgiving grace, and revealed will\u20141Ki_8:29, 1Ki_8:30.<\/p>\n
5. Daniel\u2019s prayer was known, for as the scent in the handkerchief will betray itself, so prayer brings the aroma of grace and the fragrance of holiness, and these ever speak out their worth.<\/p>\n
