853. Things in Which God\u2019s People Should Delight<\/p>\n
1. The Lord Himself. \u201cThen shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord\u201d (Isa_58:14). Note the \u201cthen\u201d of the soul\u2019s condition in the previous verse, which makes the delighting in the Lord possible.<\/p>\n
2. The Lord\u2019s Will. \u201cI delight to do Thy will, 0 my God\u201d (Psa_40:8). Christ is our Example, for imitation, and our Empowerer for inspiration in doing God\u2019s will.<\/p>\n
3. The Lord\u2019s Word. \u201cThy testimonies also are my delight\u201d (Psa_119:24, Psa_119:35). To delight in God\u2019s Word is a sign of healthy spiritual life\u2014Psa_1:2.<\/p>\n
4. The Lord\u2019s Abundance. \u201cThe meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace\u201d (Psa_37:11). The Lord not only favours us with His pardon, but He also feasts us with His promises.<\/p>\n
5. The Lord\u2019s Protection. \u201cI sat down under His shadow with great delight\u201d (Cant. Psa_2:3). The shadow of Christ\u2019s atonement is the protection which shields from God\u2019s wrath.<\/p>\n
6. The Lord\u2019s Acquaintance. \u201cThen shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty.\u201d The good of blessing all comes through being acquainted with Him\u2014Job_22:21-30.<\/p>\n
