866. \u201cThis\u201d\u2014Christ\u2019s Personality<\/p>\n
The Spirit of God points the index finger to Christ, calling attention to Him, in the distinctiveness of His personality.<\/p>\n
1. His Peerlessness. \u201cThis is My beloved Son\u201d (Mat_3:17). The Father knows the Son best, and is the One best able to tell forth His worth.<\/p>\n
2. His Powerfulness. When Christ stilled the tempest, it caused the disciples to exclaim, \u201cWhat manner of Man is this?\u201d (Luk_8:25).<\/p>\n
3. His Persuasiveness. \u201cNever man spake like this Man\u201d (Joh_7:46). The charm of His personality, the character of His message, and the persuasiveness of His manner, made Him different to all others.<\/p>\n
4. His Philanthropy. \u201cThis Man receiveth sinners\u201d (Luk_15:2). Children and sinners know their Friend, and Christ is the Friend of sinners and children.<\/p>\n
5. His Portentousness. \u201cThis is the King of the Jews\u201d (Mat_27:37). His Cross of shame secured for Him the conquest of sovereignty. The shamed Sovereign in His death, the superscription over His head, were portentous of His coming reign.<\/p>\n
6. His Proclamation. \u201cThis same Jesus… shall come\u201d (Act_1:11). He who went away will come back to stay. Look out for Him, and watch for His return.<\/p>\n
7. His Pre-eminence. \u201cThis is the true God and Eternal Life\u201d (1Jn_5:20). He stands alone in Deity and humanity. He has what none other hath, because He is unlike any other.<\/p>\n
