869. \u201cThis Wise\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis wise\u201d means, after the manner signified.<\/p>\n
1. Incarnation. \u201cThe birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise\u201d (Mat_1:18). He, who was eternally God, became a man in time, that He might accomplish on the earth a redemption that would bless the universe.<\/p>\n
2. Resurrection. \u201cOn this wise shewed He Himself\u201d (Joh_21:1). In many ways He showed Himself as the Risen One, but in all His manifestations He was the Son of God with power.<\/p>\n
3. Revelation. \u201cGod spake on this wise\u201d (Act_7:6). God\u2019s revelation about the seed of Abraham was a forecast of His plan with them.<\/p>\n
4. Confirmation. \u201cHe said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David\u201d (Act_13:34). God\u2019s Word is sure about His \u201cmercies,\u201d and they are ensured in Christ\u2019s resurrection, for that event ensures things\u2014Act_17:31.<\/p>\n
5. Justification. \u201cThe righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise,\u201d etc. (Rom_10:6). God reckons to faith in Christ, what Christ is.<\/p>\n
