930. Waiting On the Lord<\/p>\n
\u201cWait On the Lord\u201d Psa_27:14<\/p>\n
\u201cI will do what you want me to do,\u201d said one friend to another; \u201cbut you must wait, while I do it.\u201d And the one who was told to wait, replied: \u201cI suppose I shall get what I want, if I wait long enough.\u201d In reading through the Psalms, we find continuous reference to waiting upon Him, and then we find how we are to do it, in the attitude expressed in different Scriptures.<\/p>\n
1. Wait Continually. \u201cOn Thee do I wait all the day\u201d (Psa_25:5). Patience will surely be rewarded, therefore wait patiently.<\/p>\n
2. Wait Courageously. \u201cWait on the Lord, be of good courage\u201d (Psa_27:14). Expect to receive from the Lord, and the expectation will surely be met.<\/p>\n
3. Wait Consistently. \u201cWait on the Lord, and keep His way\u201d (Psa_37:34). We cannot expect to receive from the Lord, unless we are walking in His ways.<\/p>\n
4. Wait Confidently. \u201cThou hast done it, and I will wait on Thy Name\u201d (Psa_52:9). Past blessings create present confidences.<\/p>\n
5. Wait Calmly. \u201cBecause of His strength, I will wait upon Thee, for God is my defence\u201d (Psa_59:9). We need not be disturbed by anything, since God protects us by His presence.<\/p>\n
6. Wait Concentratingly. \u201cMy soul, wait thou upon God\u201d (Psa_62:5). The soul of consecration to the Lord is concentration in Him.<\/p>\n
7. Wait Communicatingly. \u201cAs the eyes of a maiden wait upon the hand of her mistress, so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God\u201d (Psa_123:2). The mistress communicates her desire by the indication of her hand to the watching maiden, who thus knows what to do. So we know the mind of the Lord when we look to Him.<\/p>\n
