954. \u201cWhat has Jesus Done?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce in the end of the world (ages) hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself\u201d (Heb_9:26).<\/p>\n
\u201cJesus\u2019 example is no man\u2019s salvation. Rather Jesus\u2019 example is every man\u2019s condemnation. Christ did not come from Heaven to earth to show men how to live, but to give men life. He gave men life, not by making Himself their Example, but. by making Himself their Substitute, taking their sins upon Himself, receiving in Himself the death-penalty of their sins, and dying in their stead. God raised Him from the dead, He returned to Heaven, and now the Holy Spirit through the Word of God and through the testimony of believers is calling upon men everywhere to accept what Christ did for them and be saved. The first and greatest question, therefore, that confronts men today is not, \u2018What would Jesus do?\u2019 but \u2018What has Jesus done?\u2019 Only when we accept what He has done can we do what He would do, and what He would have us do.\u201d<\/p>\n
Christ has \u201cdone\u201d in order that we might do. Follow God\u2019s order, and we obtain His benefits.<\/p>\n
1. Christ has died for our sins, that we should die to them\u20141Pe_2:24.<\/p>\n
2. God has saved us, that we should work our salvation\u2014Php_2:12.<\/p>\n
3. God has elected us\u2014Eph_1:4, that we should make our calling and election sure\u20142Pe_1:10.<\/p>\n
4. God has made us \u201cmeet\u201d for the inheritance of the saints in light, that we should be made meet for His use\u2014Col_1:12; 2Ti_2:21.<\/p>\n
5. God has cleansed us in the Blood of Christ\u2014Rev_1:5, that we should cleanse ourselves from filthiness of the flesh and spirit\u20142Co_7:1.<\/p>\n
6. God has brought us to Himself\u20141Pe_3:18, that we should be for Himself\u2014Tit_2:14, R.V.<\/p>\n
7. God has loved us, that we may love each other\u2014Joh_3:16; 1Jn_3:16.<\/p>\n
